What do we do?

Your instructor will introduce you to the equipment and give you a short training lecture, then you abseil down the 75° slope - The Slide. You now have an option. You can wimp out and repeat The Slide or go the full test and abseil the 120ft Overhang (see right). This is real nerve racking stuff. A free hang (no body contact with the rock!!) abseil.Of course, you will have the full support and back-up of our experienced instructors and will be using a safety rope at all times.

General Information

We recommend that if you are organising a childrens party, it is better to take advantage of our exclusive instructor offer. This means that if you book 5 places (children and/adults) we will guarantee your own instructor and that no outsiders will join the group.

Please not that any person under the age of 18 MUST HAVE A PAYING ADULT either abseiling with them or at least in attendance

All year round.

How long does it last?

A session will normally take a maximum of 3 hours and will vary on the overall ability of the group. We will endeavour to ensure that each client gets at least two abseils. This can increase with a competent group.

How old do i have to be?

We have taken children as young as 7 but usually children this young have had experience of this kind before. Size, not age is the usual consideration. If you have any doubt please call us to discuss.

What venues do you use?

Either at our venue Devils Gorge or if you can provide your own venue we are happy to travel to you. Please call to discuss any ideas you may have.

How Much does it cost?

Price is £40 per person for a ½ day session. We endeavour to get all clients at least 2 abseils. Some get as many as 5 but this depends on personal confidence and group progress.

If you want group exclusivity then you need to book for 5 or more. This is normally better if you have small children.

Groups get 10% discount for 10 or more and 15% for groups of 20 or more.If you have a group bigger than 30 or a charity etc. then call for special rates

1. What is abseiling?
   
   Abseiling is a basic climbing technique to allow safe descent of steep rock sections.
   
2. Do I need experience?
   
   No previous experience is necessary. We take things at a pace you feel comfortable with.
   
   
3. What do I do when I arrive?
   
   When your booking has been confirmed you will be sent details and directions of where and when to meet. It is important that you print off a copy for your journey as SATNAV does not work very well!!
   
4. What do I need to bring?
   
   All climbing equipment is provided, but bring clothes that you don't mind getting a bit grubby and footwear that has good grip (i.e. not wellies!). Gloves are not necessary, but we do suggest bringing a waterproof coat.
   
5. What can my friends and family do while I'm abseiling?
   
   The Loggerheads Country Park is situated in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Park has a visitor centre, a cafe and toilets and is a good base for the riveside walks.
